miami theater center presents Spellbound Theatre-Wink

Miami Theater Center (MTC) is proud to present Wink, an original play created and performed by Spellbound Theatre.

Miami, FL (September 2017) – Miami Theater Center (MTC) is proud to present Wink, an original play
created and performed by Spellbound Theatre, Brooklyn’s only theater for young people ages 0-5. Join
MTC at Miami Theater Center’s home in Miami Shores for the South Florida premiere during a weekend
of beauty, imagination, and dreams on October 21st and October 22nd with performances at 11am each
day (additional performance at 5pm on Sunday).
What happens when we go to sleep? Spellbound Theatre’s Wink is an imaginative and multi-disciplinary
performance that explores dreams from the perspective of a young child and her bear. Blending shadow
puppetry, physical theatre, and animation, this unique show is a captivating journey designed to engage
and inspire the very youngest audience members. Inspired by the classic poem, “Wynken, Blynken and
Nod,” Wink transforms a familiar bedroom into an imaginative world full of surprises.
Spellbound Theater is one of only a few companies in the United States creating professional, high-quality
theater for very young audiences (ages 0-5). They were recently recognized as a leader in this emerging
field by the American Alliance of Theater Education with the “Outstanding New Children’s Theater
Company Award”. Spellbound creates original theatre for children ages 0-5, and hosts educational family
programs that help children and their grown-ups play together. The company performs a public
performance season at the Old Stone House in Brooklyn and has been chosen as a two-time New Victory
Theatre LabWorks Resident Artist Ensemble.
