HAVANA HOP: A CHILDREN'S TALE OF CULTURE AND CONFIDENCE!

Join Yeila on a transformative journey as she overcomes stage fright and embraces her multi-cultural heritage. In search of confidence and inspiration, Yeila travels to Cuba to visit her vibrant grandmother. Together, they explore the colorful world of salsa and infuse her hip-hop style with a salsa flair. Experience this dynamic participation play as one actress portrays three generations of lively women, inviting the audience to dance along. Discover the joy of self-discovery and the power of embracing one's roots in this captivating and uplifting tale.

In honor of Black History Month, Roots & Rhythms celebrates the voices of black musicians, blending biography, social history, music, and choreography to celebrate the beauty and innovations of the African diaspora. This presentation, presented by Zest Collective and the Miami-Dade Arts Education Collective, explores a century of creativity, innovation, and triumph to tell the stories of black artists and communities whose songs rang out despite America's dark history of oppression.
